In 2008, the Exercise Science faculty and staff moved into their 2,800 square feet office suite in the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center. The 109,000 square-foot-building ranks among the finest facilities in the state of North Carolina and is a showcase for attracting and recruiting the best and brightest students to Campbell University.
The department suite includes five faculty offices, an office for the administrative assistant, a small reception area, a large multimedia classroom, and a multimedia human performance laboratory. The human performance lab has state-of-the art equipment including a metabolic cart, a treadmill, a electrical impedance body fat analyzer, and two bicycle ergometers.
The physical facilities available to the Department of Exercise Science and the Athletic Training Program were greatly improved in August of 2004. That month the renovation of the D. Rich Memorial Building was completed and the McLeod Athletic Training Facility opened its doors to athletes and athletic training students. In D. Rich, two state-of-the-art multimedia classrooms were designated for the specific use of the Athletic Training Program and PE 185 Lifetime Wellness classes. The McLeod Athletic Training Facility provided treatment areas, and a spacious athletic training room for clinical experiences.
In 2008, the Football Field House Athletic Training Facility went into service providing athletic training students with another first-class facility for clinical experiences. Later that fall, the Convocation Center Athletic Training Facility added a third first-class on-campus clinical site for athletic training students.
